“This is exactly why I didn’t want you to come along!”
I pushed him over with my leg and watched him topple down to the floor.
“What the hell do you mean? That vampire was ready to kill! If I hadn’t attempted anything—-”
I shoved my foot up against his cheek, rubbing it in as I spoke.
“We still could’ve died anyway! You can’t just whip out a gun and hope to shoot a vampire down. Especially at that range. They are faster, stronger, more agile than us. Do you even know how to destroy one? You’re lucky Brendon was there or it would’ve ripped you apart!” He flailed as the sole of my shoe rubbed into his perfect skin.
“Then teach me!” Nero shouted, struggling against my foot.
I dragged Nero into my room and threw him at the foot of my bed.
"Ow, what the f—"
I pressed a foot into his face as he started to sit up.
"Nero, you idiot!"
"Not the face!" he whined.
"Goddammit! Don’t just stand there, help me out!" Nero shouted, expecting me to do something.
"Nero, put the gun away."
"Like hell I will!"
Brendon looked like he was about to lunge at Nero when I finally stepped in between them, disarming Nero from his gun, slamming him to the ground, “Like HELL you WILL!”
I nodded at Brendon, letting him chase after the young vampire as I dragged Nero’s ass back to my place.
"Get out of the way," Nero said as he whipped out a gun from the inside of his jacket.
He took aim at the small girl as she snarled, bearing her fangs that were dripping with blood.
"Don’t touch her!" Brendon shouted, letting out a loud growl that could probably he heard from miles away.
He began to hunch over in what looked like pain. His body trembled as sharp claws emerged from his nail beds. His teeth grew sharper and longer than those of a vampire’s. He snarled at Nero, who now didn’t know who to point his gun at.
We arrived at the location Favi had pointed us to. It was thick with trees and tall grass, not my ideal place for an adventure, but there we were. Through the mess of foliage there was a small figure standing over another lifeless, bloodied one.
"Looks like we’re too late," Nero snarled, preparing himself for any sudden movement.
"Nero. No," I said as I saw him trying to pull something from out of his jacket.
"I’m not gonna stand here and do nothing, Nami."
"Ella?" we heard the bushes shifting around as yet another figure joined us, "Ella… why?"
"Brendon?" I asked, confused.
